Mike Holmgren’s First Packers Win
It was September 20, 1992 and the Green Bay Packers were playing the Cincinnati Bengals. The game would result in coach Mike Holmgren’s first win as head coach of the Packers, when his team won 24-23 in the final minute of the game.
The victory was also noteworthy for two other reasons. It was quarterback Brett Favre’s first action as a member of the Packers. Favre threw the winning touchdown pass to Kitrick Taylor to pull out the victory. It was also Don Majkowski‘s final game as the Packers starting quarterback. Majkowski went down with an injury during the game, which paved the way for Favre’s record-setting consecutive games streak.
