Max McGee’s easy-going style always hid his tremendous talent. The 6’2”, 210-pound McGee was the Green Bay Packers leading receiver in 1958 and 1960-62. The former Tulane University star led the team in punting in 1954 and 1958-60.
An injury to Boyd Dowler brought McGee off the bench in Super Bowl I. He came through just as he’d done over 12 seasons. McGee caught seven passes for 138 yards and two acrobatic touchdowns against the Chiefs.
Later, McGee became a Packers radio network broadcaster.
