Starring at cornerback for the Green Bay Packers for six seasons (1970-75), Ken Ellis was also an outstanding punt returner, leading the league in punt return average in 1972 with a 15.4-yard average on 14 returns. On Sept. 19, 1971 against the New York Giants, he returned a blocked field goal attempt 100 yards for a touchdown, a Packers team record. He was selected to the Pro Bowl in 1973 and was voted All Pro by UPI in 1972.
A fourth-round draft pick in 1970 out of Southern University, Ellis played halfback and flanker on offense. He also led the nation in punt returns as a junior in 1968.
