In 1966, 6’3”, 210-pound Donny Anderson of Texas Tech University signed a $600,000 contract with the Packers, the highest in NFL history to that date.

The Packers number one draft choice in 1965, Anderson was a consensus All American for two seasons for the Red Raiders. The versatile Anderson, nicknamed the ‘Golden Palomino,’ was a left-handed passer and left-footed punter. Whether passing, running or receiving, Anderson gained more than 5,800 combined yards for the Packers of the ‘60s. He also averaged 39.6 yards per punt. He was a Packer from 1966 to ‘71.
