When Green Bay Packers coach Vince Lombardi needed a placekicker prior to the 1965 season, he called on New York Giants veteran Don Chandler. From 1965-67, the Packers relied on Chandler’s accurate toe when key games were on the line.
The 6’2”, 205-pound former University of Florida Gators star kicked 48 field goals and 117 extra points as a member of the Packers. In 1965, he set a team record with a 90-yard punt versus the San Francisco 49ers. He averaged 41.9 yards per punt with the Packers.
