Growing up in Fond du Lac, Wis., Art Daley enjoyed reading at the public library. One day he saw an article by Arthur J. Daley in the New York Times. The New York sportswriter’s name matched his down to the middle initial. Daley decided then to enter the world of journalism.

He began covering the Green Bay Packers in 1942 and for more than 35 years, he covered the Packers beat for the Green Bay Press-Gazette. He teamed with Lee Remmel during many of those years.

An original member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame selection committee, Daley was the originator of the Green Bay Packers Yearbook in 1960. He was also a regular columnist in Ray Nitschke’s Packer Report.
