In 1927, Beloit College star ‘Boob’ Darling became the Green Bay Packers center. Over five seasons, his steady play at pivot helped the Packers win three straight championships in 1929, ‘30 and ‘31.
The signing of Darling in 1927 changed the face of the Packers offensive line. Jug Earp moved from center to tackle as the 6’3”, 215-pound Darling took over in the middle.
Later, he was a member of the Packers Board of Directors and Executive Committee. During his tenure, the Packers hired Vince Lombardi as head coach and general manager.
