Gilbert Brown and the Gilbert Burger
Former Green Bay Packers defensive tackle Gilbert Brown was known as a formidable run stuffer during his career. When he wasn’t engulfing opposing running backs, he was taking on two and sometimes three offensive linemen, allowing his teammates to make plays on the ball.
Although he’s one of the most overlooked members of the 1990s Packers because he played on a defensive line with the immortal Reggie White and the more heralded Sean Jones and Santana Dotson, Brown was integral to the team’s success.
He was also integral in one of the best local marketing campaigns of all time — the Gilbert Burger, a gigantic, artery-clogging concoction from Burger King. The sandwich was a Triple Whopper with extra everything, cut in half with extra cheese and no pickles. It was available in Wisconsin Burger Kings in 1996.
