Married by the Packers

Packers wedding

I’d have to say that I owe my marriage to the Green Bay Packers.

My beautiful wife was my lab partner in a college course we were taking and I had developed a fondness for her, but never had the courage to ask her out for a drink or even a movie. The Packers helped to change that.

It was during the 2010 season when the Packers pulled out an awesome victory over the Vikings in a Sunday night matchup. I decided since I was feeling so satisfied and confident from the game I should ask my future wife to come over for a movie. And as they say, the rest is history.

I slowly turned her in to a Packers fan and the first Packers game she followed was actually that next week’s game against the Jets, where Mason Crosby kicked three field goals to lead the Packers to another victory. She thought that since this Crosby fellow scored all the points he must be important and he’s been her favorite player since!

In fact, for our first Valentine’s Day, I got her an autographed picture of Crosby and she loved it! We continued hanging out more and more and continued watching the Packers the rest of the season until they won the Super Bowl.

On September 22nd I got to marry my best friend and football-watching buddy. We had a cheesehead groom’s cake and she wore a Packers garter as a shout-out to the team that brought us together.

To celebrate our honeymoon, we will be headed to Green Bay in December to take in the sights and sounds and round out the trip with the Titans game on the 23rd. We’re both excited for this season and will be cheering on the Packers every game. GO PACK GO!

This story was submitted by Tyrell Perry of Laramie, Wyoming. We’re glad the Packers were able to help him muster the courage to ask his wife out and wish the newlyweds well.
