Three here to add to my bank:
First, that Knafelc was one of only two players to ever be carried off the field-and the other was Dave Roller?! (of all people…)
Second, the ultimatum in 1955:
I knew they had lost patience with us and had big-time concerns with our ineptness on the field (not to mention our long-standing shitty record since the mid-40s) but not to that extent-an ultimatum to “get the he’ll out of town-or else!”
and three, the fact that the initial City Stadium was the “envy
of the league” in 1925.
So, ’57 and ’03 had a long-standing precedent-we’ve been
paving the way and setting the example for the NFL not just for many years (on the field) but in many other ways, as well!
