Irv Comp

March 21, 1946 – Irv Comp, the Packers leading pass interceptor during the decade of the 1940s, spurns offers from the rival All-American Football Conference and agrees to terms for a fourth season with the Packers. The deal is reached after a phone conversation between Comp (in Milwaukee) and Packers coach Curly Lambeau (in California). Comp does not disclose the terms under which he accepts, but his salary is believed to be close to the $7,500 offered to him by the upstart league that will begin play in September 1946.
