Packers Re-Sign Hall of Fame Kicker Jan Stenerud
March 11, 1981 – Packers coach Bart Starr says veteran placekicker Jan Stenerud will return to the team in the fall to further his Packers career. Stenerud, who played 13 seasons with the Chiefs (1967-79), joined the Packers for the final four games in 1980 when he was called on to rescue a kicking game that had spiraled downward with Chester Marcol and Tom Birney at the controls. In 1981, Stenerud sets the Packers record for accuracy in a season by making 22 of 24 field goal attempts.
