New Coach Vince Lombardi Introduces Himself to Packers Nation
March 2, 1959 – Vince Lombardi, the Packers new head coach, speaks at the team’s annual stockholders meeting where the financial state of the club is revealed. John Torinus, secretary of the Green Bay Packers Corporation and a member of the team’s executive committee, announces the team has made a profit of $70,106 as compared to a profit of $50,130 the year previous. Lombardi says he and his assistants have finished their film study of the 1958 team that won but one game. “I’m no magician,” Lombardi says, “But we’ll win some games somehow.”
