Harris, Benardo

Feb. 25, 2002 – Bernardo Harris receives the stunning news that the Green Bay Packers no longer require his services. Unable to reach the veteran linebacker, Packers director of pro personnel Reggie McKenzie contacts his agent. When asked about being waived, Harris, who led the team in tackles four times in his five years as a starter, says: “I’m not totally surprised and I’m not upset. I’m just handling it as a professional thing, a business decision.” Originally an undrafted free agent with the Chiefs, Harris joined the Packers in January 1995.
