Packers Coach Curly Lambeau Signs Receiver Don Hutson
Feb. 22, 1935 – Packers coach Curly Lambeau announces that Don Hutson, the left end on the undefeated 1934 University of Alabama football team, has signed a contract to play for the Green Bay Packers. Hutson, who caught two long scoring passes (54 and 59 yards) in the Crimson Tide’s 29-13 win over Stanford in the Rose Bowl, was also courted by the NFL’s Brooklyn Dodgers. By the time Hutson retires, he will have set numerous records, some of which stand today.
