Packers Cleared in Alleged IR Miscue
Feb. 17, 1982 – The Milwaukee Sentinel reports that the Packers have been cleared in a highly publicized case involving quarterback Nickie Hall. Hall, Green Bay’s 10th-round draft choice in 1981, was one of 39 players spot checked by NFL officials to determine if they were illegally placed on injured reserve. Hall was placed on IR on Aug. 18 and wasn’t examined by league physicians until Oct. 4, nearly seven weeks later. “We had nothing to hide. Hell, we did nothing wrong,” Packers coach Bart Starr says. “There was no impropriety there at all.”
