Packers Greats Honored at Wisconsin Pro Football Writers
Feb. 15, 1970 – Travis Williams (Packers outstanding offensive player), Dave Hampton (Packers rookie of the year) and Dave Robinson (Packers outstanding defensive player) are honored at the second annual Wisconsin Pro Football Writers dinner at the Pfister Hotel in Milwaukee. The event draws nearly 700 fans and luminaries such as NFL commissioner Pete Rozelle, Vikings quarterback Joe Kapp and Bears running back Gale Sayers. Toastmaster and former Packers defensive lineman Henry Jordan recalls a time when Sayers was getting tackled by the Green and Gold. “Dave Robinson had one leg and Lionel Aldridge had the other leg and Lionel said, ‘Okay, Dave, make a wish.’”
