Feb. 6, 1950 – Gene Ronzani signs a three-year contract to become just the second head coach in Green Bay Packers history. Financial details are not made public, but it is believed the contract calls for an annual salary of between $12,000 and $15,000 annually. Ronzani, a native of Iron Mountain, Mich., played for the Chicago Bears (1933-38 and 1944-45). His 23-yard TD pass to Keith Molesworth on Dec. 10, 1933 beat the Packers 7-6. “I’m glad to be here,” Ronzani says at the stockholders meeting that evening. “I’m going to do a job, and I hope I stay here as long as my predecessor did.”
