Packers Great James Lofton Proves He Can Catch a Newborn Baby Like a Football

Jan. 28, 1984 – “He thinks he’s a pro baby deliverer,” Beverly Lofton says after her husband, Packers wide receiver James Lofton, helps deliver their nine-pound, eight-ounce baby boy in Honolulu on the eve of the Pro Bowl Game. “He was my coach,” Beverly explains. “We came in after practice.” The Loftons name the baby David James, and Beverly watches the game the following day from her bed at Kapiolani Children’s Hospital. Lofton catches two passes for 23 yards including an 8-yarder for a TD in the NFC’s 45-3 rout of the AFC.
