Vince Lombardi Relishes Packers Second Super Bowl Victory
Jan. 14, 1968 – “I love it when they blitz,” Bart Starr declares following the Packers 33-14 dismantling of the Oakland Raiders in the second Super Bowl. “When they blitz, they put themselves into man-for-man coverage,” the quarterback says. Starr carves up the with 202 yards passing and an early 62-yard TD toss to receiver Boyd Dowler. Herb Adderley seals the deal with a 60-yard interception return of a Daryle Lamonica pass that puts Green Bay up 33-7 in the fourth quarter. When asked if he would retire following his second Super Bowl victory in as many years, Packers coach Vince Lombardi tersely replies: “No announcements.”
