Jan. 11, 1998 – “Brett (Favre) was up at 4:30 this morning, he was so ready to play this game,” Packers center Frank Winters says. Winters, Favre’s roommate, was primed and so, too, were his teammates as Green Bay downs the San Francisco 49ers 23-10 in the NFC Championship Game at 3Com Park. Favre passes for 222 yards, Dorsey Levens runs for 114 yards and the Green and Gold hold the explosive 49ers to 257 yards including just 33 on the ground. Safety Eugene Robinson has the day’s only interception when he picks off Steve Young and races 58 yards to set up the Packers’ first touchdown.
