Jan. 3, 1999 – Mike Holmgren’s last game as Packers coach is a bitter pill to swallow as San Francisco edges Green Bay 30-27 in an NFC wild-card game at 3Com Park. Steve Young’s 25-yard TD pass to Terrell Owens with three seconds left is the dagger. Young completes seven of nine passes for 76 yards on the game-clinching drive. Aside from the payoff pass, the biggest play on the final advance is one in which the officials rule Jerry Rice down when replays confirm the legendary receiver fumbled (forced by Scott McGarrahan) and Green Bay linebacker Bernado Harris recovered.
