Dec. 29, 1999 – Four and a half years after Ron Wolf failed to land Rashaan Salaam in the draft, the Packers general manager signs the Colorado running back to a free-agent contract. The former Chicago Bear (1995-97) is added to the roster after rookie halfback De’Mond Parker is placed on injured reserve with a serious knee injury. “I’m just trying to find an opportunity so I can show that I can play,” Salaam says. At the time of the 1995 draft, Wolf said he would have selected Salaam with the 22nd choice overall. The Bears, however, jumped in and took him one pick earlier. Salaam is not activated for the Packers’ season finale against the Cardinals, and he is granted free agency in February.
