Rodgers Caps First Season as Starter With Win Over Detroit
Dec. 28, 2008 – In a season filled with ups and downs, quarterback Aaron Rodgers and the Packers close on a high note by dispatching the winless Lions 31-21 at Lambeau Field. Rodgers throws three touchdown passes including a 71-yarder to Donald Driver for the game’s final points midway through the fourth quarter. His passer rating of 132.2 is his highest of the season. “It’s been a tough season,” said Rodgers who replaced Brett Favre and was booed five months earlier during a scrimmage. “(Fans) expect great things, just like we as players do, and it’s been disappointing, I know, for all of us.” By beating Detroit, Green Bay improves to 6-10 and drops the Lions to 0-16. “We just don’t want to be that team in the NFL to lose to an 0-15 team,” safety Nick Collins says. “You don’t want to be that guy.”
