Dec. 12, 1996 – Reggie White signs a five-year, $19 million contract extension that will keep him a Packer through 2000. The deal includes a $3 million signing bonus and a $1 million reporting bonus. “One thing about the dealings with Reggie, there was never any bitterness,” Packers President Bob Harlan says. “It was always done in a business-like manner.”  With White in the fold, the team turns its attention to extending Brett Favre’s contract. “(White’s deal) gives us an opportunity to try to get these other people done,” Packers general manager Ron Wolf says. Those other people include nose tackle Gilbert Brown, linebacker Wayne Simmons, center Frank Winters, kicker Chris Jacke and running back Dorsey Levens.
