Packers Pounce on Lions, End Detroit’s 10-Game Winning Streak
Nov. 25, 1934 – Leave it to the Packers to prove a team is not invincible. Clarke Hinkle boots a 47-yard, fourth-quarter field goal to knock off the Detroit Lions 3-0 at the University of Detroit Stadium before an estimated crowd of 12,000. It is the only successful field goal in a combined eight attempts, with each team getting four tries. In roaring to a 10-0 record, the Lions shut out their first seven opponents and outscore the competition 215 to 27. Green Bay (5-5) not only ends Detroit’s streak, it sends the Lions into a tailspin as they lose the next two games and fall out of championship contention.
