Green Bay Confidential: Packers Coach Lindy Infante Closes Practice
Nov. 15, 1989 – In preparing his team to face the defending world champion 49ers, Lindy Infante announces he is closing practice to the media for the remainder of the week. It is a first for the Packers coach in his second year leading the team. “It’s really quite simple,” Infante explains. “We’ve got some things that we’re doing that I don’t want to be made public. Very honestly, I had one member of the media tell me, point blank, that he was going to write anything he saw on the field. He said he had an obligation to do so.” Infante’s decision doesn’t hurt the team as it goes on to stun San Francisco 21-17 while winning five of its last six games to finish 10-6.
