Nov. 2, 1969 – Travis Williams becomes the only Packer to accumulate 300 combined net yards in a game, and every stripe he gains is needed as Green Bay squeezes past the Steelers 38-34 at Pitt Stadium. Combined net yards takes into account yards from scrimmage plus yards on returns. Williams’ total of 314 consists of 48 yards rushing, 19 receiving, 164 on kickoff returns and 83 on a punt return. The elusive back scores touchdowns on a punt return, a kickoff return and on a 1-yard plunge. “We didn’t underestimate Travis,” first-year Steelers coach Chuck Noll insists. “We overestimated our ability to cover kicks.” A banged-up Bart Starr throws the game-winning TD pass to Carroll Dale with four minutes, 46 seconds left.
