Packers Rock Solid in Game Against Independents
Oct. 18, 1925 – The Packers notch their only victory over Rock Island in five tries beating the Independents 20-0 at City Stadium. Charlie Mathys fires a scoring pass to Marty Norton in the third quarter and Myrt Basing scores two fourth-quarter rushing touchdowns. A 25-yard pass from Curly Lambeau to Dick O’Donnell sets up Green Bay’s first score. Interceptions, one by Fred Larson and the other by Basing, provide the starting point for the Packers’ fourth-quarter scores. Norton and Basing lead the Packers in scoring in 1925 with 36 points each.
