Tim Harris Keys Win Over Vikings
Oct. 16, 1988 – In four seasons as Green Bay Packers coach, Lindy Infante’s team forged a winning record against only one NFC Central opponent: the Vikings. The first of five wins Infante earned in the series with Minnesota was a 34-14 rout in the Metrodome in which linebacker Tim Harris records a safety and returns a blocked punt for a touchdown. Harris blocks former Packer Bucky Scribner’s first punt of the fourth quarter, picks up the ball and rumbles 10 yards for the score. “The guy who was over me got a block on me, but the punter just happened to be kicking it my way,” Harris says. “I had the angle. All I had to do was stick my hands out.” Harris finishes with five unassisted tackles including two sacks for minus-21 yards.
