Oct. 9, 1984 – Speaking at the Pabst Curbstone Coaches Luncheon, Green Bay Packers wide receiver James Lofton sets the record straight on a rumor making the rounds. The tall tale has Green Bay sending fellow receiver John Jefferson to Dallas in exchange for quarterback Danny White. The mythical trade supposedly also involves Packers quarterback Rich Campbell or Randy Wright or possibly even punter Bucky Scribner. “Every year, we hear rumors about trades,” Lofton says. “Last year, when I came down here for this, someone interviewed me about me about the trade of Campbell. Being the media guy I am, I smiled and said I hope it’s a good trade for both teams.”
