Al Carmichael

August 26, 1959 – Al Carmichael, the busiest kick return man in Green Bay Packers history, is put on waivers. Carmichael, the Packers No. 1 draft choice in 1953, returned a team-record 253 punts and kickoffs in six seasons in Green Bay. The loss of Carmichael opens the door for rookie Bill Butler to lead the team in kick returns in 1959. Carmichael, meanwhile, gets back into the game with Denver where he plays 16 games for the Broncos in 1961 and 1962.
