Vince Lombardi Signs New Pact With Packers

August 7, 1961 – Head coach Vince Lombardi signs a new five-year contract that will keep him in Green Bay through the 1965 season. The Packers executive committee, headed by team president Dominic Olejniczak, tears up Lombardi’s original contract, which had three years remaining on it and gives the coach and general manager an undisclosed raise with the new pact.
