Gale Gillingham

July 19, 1966 – Gale Gillingham’s opportunity to play in a College All-Star game comes to an end as the rookie guard returns to the Green Bay Packers with his right hand in a cast. Days earlier, the former Minnesota lineman and the second of Green Bay’s two first-round draft choices breaks his hand during a blocking drill for the All-Stars in Evanston, Illinois. Though he misses the annual contest between the defending NFL champions and the best of the college ranks (the Packers win 38-0), Gillingham plays in 14 regular-season and two playoff games for Green Bay in 1966.
